file://maniac is a grim-looking detective puzzle game wherein you have to delve into your actual computer files to solve your cases. This game will have you playing as an agent in a futuristic film noir-like setting in a pixelated world. How you’ll proceed in your investigations is through messing with your game files, as you’ll be instructed on-screen. The game is the first of a series of short episodes under the name “File://,” and for every episode, you’ll be facing off against criminals hiding deep into your computer directory. This pilot episode is short, but still challenging to completely solve. And while it’s not as story-heavy as most detective games are, it’s still alluring enough for any curious puzzle fan who’d like to try this type of gameplay.
